Lyrics
Is This Mess A Message?
© Susan Anders
Everywhere I look I see mountains
Mountains of clothes and dishes and magazines
Some sweet day I’ll have time to clean up
But I’m late and in one of those mountains are my keys
I find those keys and run, now it’s my driving routine
Drinking coffee, putting on makeup and calling my boss
A big truck cuts me off—there goes my lipstick
Coffee’s flying everywhere and one more cell phone’s lost
Is this mess a message—am I living right?
Trying to do too much is catching up with me
I keep seeing reasons to simplify my life
Is this mess a message—might be
I’m dreaming of a wide blue ocean
And my only job is to watch the waves rise and fall
A siren screams, hey I didn’t know I was speeding
Could be more bad luck or a wake-up call
Is this mess a message—am I living right?
Trying to move too fast is catching up with me
I keep seeing reasons to slow my life
Is this mess a message—might be
